7 Activities (to Try) That Help Increase Happiness
If you've been following the blog, then you already know how important mental health is here. Not to mention that the month of May is also Mental Health Awareness. So, to keep you guys on your mental toes, here's some great activities that you can incorporate into your life. Some of these suggestions are small things you can do daily, to things you can do weekly, monthly or yearly.

Find an Amazing View
There are amazing views all around us. Whether it's driving down a scenic road, walking on the beach, fishing at the lake, the view from your office window or even just stepping outside in your backyard, find a great view. Then take a moment and just appreciate the moment. Reflect on the things you have in your life to be thankful for.
Take a hike...Literally...
Grab a water bottle, a good pair of comfy shoes and take a on a trail...or two. If you take a solo hike, you can use the time alone to do a walking meditation, or recount things to be thankful for. It's also a great exercise that you can do with a group of friends too! In fact the more positive energy, the bigger of a happiness boost you will experience.
Whether you are an artist, or happen to appreciate art around you, do yourself a favor and create it! Creating art is a great way to increase the feeling of happiness. If you are an artist then you already understand this! If you're not sure where to start, you can begin with a small step like coloring. In fact, studies show that coloring helps to reduce the feelings of stress. Pressed for time? You can download an application on your smartphone that simulates the activity of coloring!
Log your "Highlight Moments"
Keep track of your accomplishments each day. Sometimes we are so busy "reaching the top" that we ignore the small wins that we have along the way. Take a moment, during the latter part of your day to log all of your small wins either, electronically or in a small notebook. Then maybe at the end of the week, flip back over the week to remind yourself of everything that you accomplished. As a bonus, you could even throw in a special reward and "treat yo'self".
Aromatherapy is a great way to increase happiness. Certain types of scents have been shown to help decrease levels of anxiety, depression and stress. In my personal opinion, there is something especially soothing about burning a candle. I happen to love candles that reflect a certain type of mood. There is a wealth of knowledge that can only be found in a book. Reading is not only beneficial because of what you learn, but it can enrich your life mentally and spiritually too. Planning a Trip
Planning a trip is a great way to build excitement and increase a little bubble of happiness in your life. Often times we get distracted with working hard, that we often forget to create space and time to relax. Take time out to plan your next trip or vacation and get excited about it. Planning your next get away will also give you something to look forward too. This definitely comes in handy during those times work can be especially trying.
