Tips to Super Charge your Goal Setting before the New Year
Ready or Not, 2018 is almost here
I am one of the many people, who still exclaims "can you believe it's the end of the year already?" In fact, I must have said it a million times in my head as I wrote this post.
It is really almost the end of 2017, and I must say this has been a pretty good year. I got a lot of different things done. I stepped out of my comfort zones a few times, and I plan on doing more in the next year.
I guess you could say I was a previous serial New Year goalie. I would set goals at the start of the New Year, super hype about them. Power through the first week and a half, and then pretty much flatline before the end of the month.
I had to break this cycle, and fast. I was tired of struggling through my goals. I was also tired of feeling like crap at the end of the year because I didn't accomplish anything.
So I did a little digging and found some really helpful ways to super charge your goal setting before the New Year.
Tips to Super Charge your GoaL Setting before the New Year
- Define the Habits you Need to Create to Successfully Complete your Goals: What are things that you need to do to accomplish your goals? For example if your goal for next year is be healthier, What things should you do to make that happen? Plan meals to fit desired diet....Shop Smarter....etc. Defining the habits you need to form to become more successful, is one good way to supercharge your goal setting for next year.
- Plan With a Purpose: As you begin creating your list of goals for the next year, you need to be clear about your purpose. Understanding why it is so important for you to meet and exceed your goals, will encourage you to stick to them. Realistically, we all know that it does become difficult, when you're working toward a goal. We can lose sight of where we're going. Knowing your WHY can help with getting back on track, when you get distracted.
- Practice Being Successful: Sometimes the best way to become successful is to just practice being successful. What does your version success look like? Feel like? Spend some time reflecting on what being successful feels like to you. As you spend time inside of that feeling, it will become more natural to you. Theories suggest, that your thoughts and emotions influence your reality. If you visualize it, and practice it, then your actions will also align to help you accomplish it.
No, I did not accomplish ALL of my goals this year, BUT I'm not upset. The fact that I managed to work through most of my goals, gives me hope for this coming year. Before I applied some of these tips I would have flaked on my goals before Valentine's Day.
On another note, I am so excited for the coming year! I have some dope plans for the blog and brand, so be looking out for that.
